Used For:

• Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents (weighing ≥25 kg) — both newly diagnosed and as a switch regimen in virally suppressed patients with no known resistance.

Adult Dosage:

• Tablet orally once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day

Contraindications:

• Do not use Taffic in people who:Are allergic to any of its components (bictegravir, emtricitabine, tenofovir alafenamide). Are taking dofetilide (risk of serious cardiac effects) or rifampin (decreases bictegravir levels). Have severe renal impairment (e.g., eGFR <15 mL/min) without dialysis — requires specialist dosing decisions

Precautions:

• Regular monitoring: HIV viral load, CD4 count, liver function, kidney function, and sometimes bone health during long-term therapy. Hepatitis B testing before starting treatment (hepatitis B can flare when stopping Taffic).Do not stop or skip doses without medical advice — risk of viral rebound and resistance. Drug interactions: always inform your clinician about other medications, including OTCs, herbal products, and supplements.

Dietary Restrictions:

• Taffic can be taken with or without food. Be cautious with alcohol — it may increase liver strain and other side effects; discuss your pattern of use with your doctor. Ensure adequate nutrition and hydration to support overall health during lifelong HIV therapy.
